INTERVIEW WITH FLASKAVSAE

Black Metal Ambient from USA

Interview realized during the month of September, with Flaskavsae, for THE TRUE UNDARK METAL.

Interview and Questions by Lord Emperor Gederoth

Interview

TTUM:

Thank you so much for the interview. Please can introduce yourself?

FLASKAVSAE:

First let me thank you for the interview and coverage. it is very much appreciated. my stage name/alias is Flaskavsae. i play in a couple of projects, most notably known for the project named after myself; Flaskavsae.

TTUM:

How Flaskavsae was created?

FLASKAVSAE:

Flaskavsae was born in early 2005 out of a desire to create harsh and raw black metal with a Christian message. This concept has stayed pretty prevalent in the current stages of this project as well, in one aspect or another.

TTUM:

Why the name of Flaskavsae? What it means?

FLASKAVSAE:

Flaskavsae has no real meaning behind it other than the fact that i thought it sounded convincing as a project name for an extreme metal project. It was created by a friend of mine and he allowed me to use it for my person/project.

TTUM:

Besides this project, do you have any other musical projects?

FLASKAVSAE:

I do. I am actually one half of the duo known as Njiqahdda. I perform drums, bass and distorted vocals in that project. Njiqahdda plays experimental ambient / black metal.

TTUM:

What is the message that you want to bring with your music and
lyrics?

FLASKAVSAE:

To glorify Christ in all means. He is the reason i have a voice, motive or meaning. Without Him i would be nothing more than a lost soul. I have also learned that GOD appreciates glorification in all ways; even through the most obscure and harsh forms of music. It is all for the glory of GOD; no more no less.

TTUM:

How you can define the music style of Flaskavsae?, because we think
that in some of your productions there is a notorius change.

FLASKAVSAE:

It would be hard for me to define my own sound. Personally i would just say 'unblack metal', but the genre classifiers really differentiate throughout each release. I fuse elements of ambient, noise, experimental, atmospheric, shoe-gaze, doom, depressive black, raw/harsh black, thrash, and death musics into one unit. More often than not the pairing of black metal & ambient are prevalent thematic elements in my music. There are big differences in each release that i do; but that is done for a reason. All of my music is unmistakably Flaskavsae, but each release has its own unique identifier. I like to really experiment with different elements and see what happens. Kind of like musical chemistry, if you will.

TTUM:

How many productions you have with Flaskavsae? Do you have one in special?

FLASKAVSAE:

As of right now, i have 8 total releases with Flaskavsae;

Celestial Full-length, 2005
Eclipse in Tides EP, 2006
Nahum/Flaskavsae Split Split, 2006
Philosophies Full-length, 2007
Celestial Eclipses Best of/Compilation, 2007
Parallels To Nothing: Demos 2006 - 2007 Best of/Compilation, 2008
Requiem IV Split, 2008
In Memory EP, 2008

but i currently have a split with Light Shall Prevail awaiting release, along with a brand new full-length that i am working on as we speak. Both will appear courtesy of EEE Recordings sometime in the near future.

My personal favorite release is the Philosophies full-length. Mostly from a recording standpoint. i highly enjoyed the recording session of that record, it was not only fun, but also productive. An experience i will never forget in my lifetime.

TTUM:

What we cant expect with your musical projects in the near future?
What is your goal with this?

FLASKAVSAE:

What cant you expect? An album of radio-friendly pop songs!
What can you expect? An ever-changing, evolving string of experimental music with unblack metal at its core.
My music is an artistic statement of experimentalism fused with an undying belief in Jesus Christ. It could never be anything less than that. My goal with Flaskavsae is to spread the good news that Jesus Christ is LORD, but to also make killer music as well.

TTUM:

Has you played live with this project? or have plans for play live
someday and visit some places around Latin America and the world?

FLASKAVSAE:

No and no. I would totally consider playing live, but the time, place and people would have to be in complete accord with GOD. Anything less would crash and fail horribly. I would hate to see this project get shot down in flames for something like that. It has become a far too personal affair and emotional attachment for me.

TTUM:

Before say goodbye, any final comments?

FLASKAVSAE:

First i would like to thank GOD for all things in my life, including the ever-so-precious blood of Christ. Without Him i would be nothing. secondly i would like to thank you for the wonderful interview. any coverage is much appreciated by myself. thank you for that, it is an honor. thirdly, i would like to say keep an eye out for the 2 new Flaskavsae releases on EEE Recordings, they are both very exciting musically and worthy of the time spent investing into them. also keep an eye out for my work in Njiqahdda, there is some very interesting work going on there too. i would like to thank all of my supporters and friends, your encouragement is bar-none. GOD bless every single last one of you.

3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
